Rivendell Wedding

JRR Tolkien said that “we put the thought of all that we love into all that we make.” And what could we put more thought of love into than a wedding? Our clients wanted to express their shared love of classical fantasy literature in a wedding event of truly epic proportions.To bring their vision to life, the family enlisted Figure Plant to design, build and install an immersive, Rivendell-inspired complex on their undeveloped forest acreage. In order to create their fantasy, the reality was that they needed to have the site prepared, and the project designed, built and installed…with just 3 months until their wedding day.

One of the largest project teams in Figure Plant history worked through snow, sleet, rain (and a little sunshine), to design and craft five distinct structures: Great Hall, divided kitchen, lounge, fire pit, and three-stall restroom with composting toilets. While work crews made trails and prepared the land, Figure Plant swiftly got to work on the couple’s vision.

A breathtaking wedding environment as unique and personal as it was grand. The winding layout of the structures kept guests nearby while creating a sense of a village community. The scale of the buildings kept the guests cozy and connected, without feeling cramped. Organic and hand-hewn details gave authenticity to the ancient aesthetics of the space. The wedding environment brought family and friends together in an imaginative and inspiring way.
